DONNA WILLIAMS

WordLoveAfrica is the first film in a documentary series from DWD Productions creator/producer, Donna Williams.

 in development since 2003, became a reality with the 2006 Avanti Pictures Corporation international independent productionof the WordLoveWorldLove Documentary. Donna was creator, co-producer, co-writer and production designer of the one hour program for broadcast and educational distribution, which connects Vancouver children with words, art and film with Sri Lankan children in recovery from the 2004 tsunami.

Donna is currently an Assistant Art Director on MGM TV Series Stargate/Atlantis. and has worked in TV and feature film since 1994. Her industry experience includes Assistant Art Direction on the MGM sci –fi TV Series Outer Limits, and Set Design for theatrical features, including 20th Century Fox sci-fi IROBOT.

After a decade in the Vancouver film industry she studied documentary film at Vancouver Film School in 2004 with the intent to create unique, offbeat films, which explore both social and children’s issues.

stepsa documentary film, about tolerance and skateboarders, was the debut for the filmmaker as Writer, Producer, Director. The film was selected for the Vancouver Women in Film Summer Shorts Festival and the new filmmaker received the Vancouver Women in Film Mentorship Award that same year. Co-Directing Hope20, a short on Housing the Homeless followed. Donna is a 1985 Graduate of UBC School of Architecture and a published poet.

The WordLoveWorldLove Documentary Series offers a new opportunity every year to empower children to engage as global citizens in building a kinder, more peaceful future.
ERICA KRUTZEN

Erica Krutzen  B.A., D.V.A.T.I., has been an art therapist in private practice for over 8 years.  She is a faculty member at the Silbury School and Resource Centre for gifted children where she does both individual and group work.  For the past 7 years she has worked on contract for the Tri-City Women’s Resource Society co-facilitating groups for women and children who witness violence.  Through the Women’s Resource Society she also co-facilitates groups for pregnant teens.  Erica recently worked on the documentary film, “WordLoveWorldLove” focusing on Sri Lankan children who suffered losses in the Tsunami.  She is presently consulting on the development of The WordLove Project and another documentary film entitled “WordLoveAfrica.”

Prior to becoming an art therapist Erica worked for 10 years facilitating art programs for children aged 5-12.  She also worked 5 years as a Volunteer Peer Counselor at the UBC Women’s Resources Centre, as an art therapist in a cultural program at a First Nation’s Centre, and as a facilitator of art programs for an inner city school through Strathcona Community Centre.   Professional workshops where Erica has been a guest speaker include the British Columbia Art Therapy Association, the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, and the North Shore Mental Health Association.
